Death to a Tagline

It looks like the new Iranian President understands that “hate” may not be a good brand attribute and so is proposing the cancellation of the official “Death
to America” tagline. Full story here. Money quote:

Iran can “stand against powers which threaten our national interests with prudence rather than with slogans”

Indeed, a tagline can’t do everything. But dialing down the anger and intensity can sh0w a real willingness to reconcile and compromise in political negotiations to come. One wonders how the shift in tone plays to internal, domestic audiences vs. external, international ones.

When Will Dunkin’ Drop the Donuts?

We’re still waiting.  It can’t be much longer. First it was Kentucky Fried Chicken > KFC. Then Philip Morris > Altria. How much longer before Dunkin’ Donuts becomes just Dunkin’? Shorter, punchier, livelier, and no donuts, which will soon be banned anyway, right? Yes, we can expect rioting in New England, but it’s time … past time, actually.

This guy knows that DD is about a lot more than just the D’s.
